Livingstone shouldn't have resigned, because it serves only to play into the phony claim that Clinton has been impeached for adultery. The issue is no more adultery than Nixon's was burglary, but apparently anything more complex than a bumper sticker eludes our grasp. The Clinton apologists have cynically exploited public confusion, egging on that confusion, and now the dimwitted Livingstone plays right into their hands. With rivals as stupid as this, it's no wonder that Clinton looks like a political genius. Even now, as Flynt, Lenzner, and the various other muckrakers supporting Clinton dig up sexual dirt on Republicans, the Clinton team will simultaneously charge "sexual McCarthyism" and it will stick. They don't call the GOP the Stupid Party for nothing.
