Lisa - I don't remember the Games but, as one of the antiques on this thread, I do remember Chamberlain stepping off the plane pronouncing "peace in our time" and the tanks later rolling into Poland. I was seven at the time. Thus much of my consternation over this nation's stance since WWII. In both world wars we were reluctant participants. Since WWII we somehow assumed the role of policeman of the world - the first, perhaps, since the Pax Romana. IMHO it is a position doomed to failure and may yet doom us. Ralph
