Re your "He was brought down first and foremost by his incredible idiocy, mendacity and narcissism, and by the will of a relatively small group of people who, ....."

Mr. Lao-Tse, you don't seem to understand our ways. We have a Constitution that spells out how and under what circumstances our President is removed. The will of the majority matters, that's why we have elections. It is only when dogmatic extremists attempt to impose their will do we have a problem with this concept.

The same Constitution spells out how the rights of the minorities are protected. Usually it protects citizens from prosecutorial excesses but it doesn't work in the case of Bill Clinton.

How does an after-the-fact feeble criticism equal "a stranglehold on the party?"

"Feeble criticism"? Yeah, right! I'll believe that if a decidedly pro-choice candidate makes it across your primaries.
