When to sell?: I have noticed that a lot of stocks run up on stock split announcements. A lot of people play the market that way. Just buying stocks that announce splits.

Then when the split date occurs, such as with CMGi, which is Jan 11, they will sell on the day of the split is payable.

I did not know this at the time of the last 1/4 for earnings.
I owned LCOS. It came out with very good earnings and announced a split. The day the shares were payable the stock ran up all day then at around 3Pm it sold off big time. What a pisser. I didn't see it coming and lost a lot of money.

It went down after that too since it had a huge run up.
However this doesn't happen all time, of course.
Any thoughts?
