Paul - RE: "When they ship in Desktops, we'll see a 44% increase in costs for AMD (81 sq. mm K6-2 to 117 sq. mm for K6-3)."

You wanna compare AMD vs. Intel die sizes and costs? Didn't think so.

Keep cringin Paul, that may be the only way you recover.

Paul, <when they ship in desktops [k6-3] we'll see a 44% increase in costs for AMD>

Yea, lets see:
$15, cost of depreciation per chip, stays the same
$15, cost of R&D per chip, stays the same
$5, cost of packaging per chip, stays the same
$10, cost of silicon per chip, goes up to $14
$10, other costs, stays the same

I'm really worried that the K6-3-450, which is faster than the Katmai 500 is going to cost AMD $4 more to make.
