Gary,

I, too, follow RAYS as a seasonal play. At the same time, I am concerned that they are missing the web market with its potential for low-overhead sales into cities that are not home to RAYS retail outlets. Their mall-based strategy is okay (in fact, it is very important for impulse-market dominance), but they are missing a significant growth opportunity.

Try this (I just did):
Visit some of the top search sites (Excite, Altavista, Lycos) and type in the word "sunglasses". You'll see a number of sites on the first screen; but, you won't see Sunglass Hut. As the nation's leading retail outlet, one might expect them to design their web pages in such a way that they appear in the top frequency listings on the key search engines. Are they there? No. Did they at least tie a banner ad into the keyword sunglasses? No. Clueless.

Merry Christmas,
BrianR
