Guardian Responds to Increasing International and Domestic Security Threats

DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1998--Guardian Technologies International Inc. (NASDAQ:GRDN), The Life Saving Company(TM), a manufacturer of high performance ballistic protective equipment, Monday announced that it has completed initial delivery of its patented, lightweight helicopter armor for an allied government and has received an $80,000 order for its tactical ballistic equipment from an elite unit of a federal agency.

"To know that the products we make will be used to save lives in an era of increasing terrorist threats is personally rewarding to all of our employees," said Guardian's Chairman and President Oliver L. North.

"Despite the domestic and international menace posed by terrorists like Osama Bin Laden and rogue regimes like that of Saddam Hussein, U.S. manufacturers of protective equipment have responded to reduce the risk to lives and property," North added.

"By month's end, Guardian will also complete delivery of a quarter of a million dollar order to provide body armor for an ally in the Persian Gulf," stated North. The company attributes these new customers to Guardian's contract with the general services administration and its proximity to our nation's capital with its concentration of federal agency headquarters and foreign embassies.

"These orders represent a significant opportunity to bolster Guardian's near term outlook. When coupled with the company's core base of law enforcement customers at the state and local level," said J. Andrew Moorer, Guardian's chief operating officer.
