You might ask Michael Cummings as to how much debate as to target worthiness would be asked on a nuke sub if they got the order to launch.

Even so, those people get off the sub sometime. They are going to be able to reflect on the cause and consequence of their actions and if they feel they were duped you can bet they are going to be steamed.
