The buyers are irrational so you cannot apply logical thinking. Good news is good, no news is good, bad news is good. The players are reacting with a "greed/fear of losing out on gains" factor in driving up the prices. And that is about all they are focusing on. This is very common in mock games. Usually it doesn't pan out so dramatically in real life, since wiser and more substantial players crush the mania.

The game ends up badly, but predicting when that happens is mighty tough. Make that impossible.
