Harvey, I've seen published rumours about Ford bidding for Honda, Volvo and now BMW. Industry consolidation is happening quickly. Auto.com has several article of interest today to BLD holders re pollution controls in EU and industry consolidation.

Well MicroSoft is in a different industry and developed an O/S to
use in computers.

For electrical power production, the standard is already set. Mother Nature made electricity either AC or DC. For a FC vehicle it does not
matter whether I use FC a, b, or c, as long as it developed the
amount of electric power I require in a small package. If the package
is the size of a microwave even better.

Thus for FC the company that comes out with the best power to size
ratio will have the best product. Thus that company will set the
benchmark that others will have to follow. But there is no barrier
to entry like the Monopoly Microsoft has.

Yes, today you can assign a P/E ratio to their operations but that wasn't always the case. When a new industry is developing, you put your money with those who are in the lead, even before they have earnings because they are the one's who will more than likely set the standards, and consequently they will capture a large percentage
of the total market. Microsoft is a great example of that.
