A pretty obvious defensive move. My sense is that HP is getting their A$$ kicked and is in danger of a big shortfall in 4Q, so they are trying, late, to cut their share losses. They seem to go back and forth with no direction, only last quarter they were saying that they would back off from taking a margin hit in PC lines and concentrate on profitable business, now this...

I am now firmly convinced that DELL and CPQ are both having a field day at the expense of the other vendors. Given this perception, if CPQ has great earnings in January it will pump DELL as well, as many in the market now see these two as the powerhouse forces, and more analysts are beginning to understand that this is not a zero sum game for these two companies.
