The campaign finance scandals are potentially enormous. It will take about six months for that crisis to make itself felt.

Six months time will be just long enough for the Senate proceedings to have come to a conclusion. If you think everyone is sick of the subject now, then just wait six months. That will make it difficult to launch yet another investigation. Depending on the polls the Radicals may feel they have nothing more to lose and plunge on.

I think it more likely that the Radicals will go after Al Gore. That may turn out to be good for him as it will place him in the spotlight in time for the 2000 elections while at the same time reminding the people of past investigations.
