Watching this impeachment matter from afar (Canada) and with little real interest, I am rather saddened. It appears to me this is a struggle within the class of political elites. It is one group against the other. The winning elites will crow and the loosing will seek revenge. And joe lunchbox will carry on, somewhat diminished by the whole sordid affair.

We are increasingly driven politically, even in Canada, by "news" that is no longer news. Rather, "news" is served up as a commercial commodity now.

The Clinton matter is burger wars. There was a time, in the 1950's and 1960's when the major US networks produced real documentaries. These were thoughtfully conceived and carefully executed. This does not sell burgers, however. I don't eat at McDonalds or Burger King. I don't watch TV or read lead news stories any longer. What's the point of tracking which set of elites are on top today? It fails to nourish.

Ciao,
David Todtman

P.S. To all my friends (and their families) on this thread, best wishes for the holidays. Take very good care of each other.

Justa, well said and I couldn't agree more. Heck, if I was Clinton I would demand a trial just to assure that my approval ratings would go even higher. Jeff

Justa, Re:"I think it might be a good idea to resolve this by trial and be done with it"

Two key Senators may agree with you: Byrd of Virginia & Monyhan (spelling ?) of New York. Both are fairly independent thinkers & strong constitutionalists. Neither want to discuss any type of censure
until the trial begins.
