Ebay can be replicated easily, as anyone who hops over to yahoo's website can tell you. There are
dozens of search engines. There are thousands of companies selling products online.


Wrong! You have to convince buyers/sellers to come to your site.
E-bay was there first and so it is almost impossible to overthrow them. It's called momentum.
Why did Syquest fail against Iomega, even though they probably had superior drives? (Same reason Imation will fail!)
Why did MSN fail against AOL?
Why is YHOO still the portal to be, despite the best efforts of Microsoft and disney? It's called MOMENTUM
