Tenchusatsu - Re: "could it be possible that the K7, with its L2 cache off-chip and running at 1/2 to 1/3 speed, scores rather low in the Winstone 99 benchmark? "

My guess is that the K6-3, with the high speed on-chip L2 cache, may equal or exceed the performance of the K7 with an off-chip L2 cache.

I wouldn't be surprised if AMD "pulled" the K7 introduction - and delay it until they can get a 0.18 micron process introduction to add ON-CHIP cache to the K7.
