Hi Mark:

Impulsive/ultra wide band radio is a very interesting
technology. I do not know all the players, but there
is a group active in this area at the Univ. Southern
California. In this technology, the pulses are so short
that the pulses travelling on different paths can be
resolved completely in the time domain, so that there is
no multipath fading problem.

The main difficulty, however, is in developing ultrafast
electronics for transmitters and receivers.

I mentioned this technology on the George Gilder thread
a few months ago, but GG did not take the bait-- he is
still completely enthused by CDMA-- a fine technology for
sure, but not the universal solution for all wireless
applications that he makes it to be.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
