I don't think AOL will drop their bid. AOL has thought this merger through very carefully. AOL is a direct competitor to MSN (Microsoft Network). There is no question that Microsoft will use their WINDOWS MONOPOLY to advance their MSN market share at a cost to AOL.
Without Netscape, AOL will have to rely on Microsoft for technology.
Now AOL has Netscape technology. If Microsoft wants to build Windows technology around MSN, AOL has a choice.
