"Let Slick go if everybody can lie on their 1040"... won't work.
I realize this is 'tongue in cheek', but risking a serious
note..this is what goes on in Russia at present. No one pays
taxes, ala no revenue, ala increase taxes, ala no one pays
taxes, ala no revenue, ala the IRS police come to your home
and busts up your life.... etc.

Instead, if everyone did pay their taxes...guess what, more
revenue, lower taxes, more revenue, lower taxes, more revenue,
then finally big spending programs and big tax breaks.

But then I still leave cookies and milk for Santa!

Let's see what the Chairman of the Judiciary Commitee has to say on the subject of lying.

And the rule for Republicans seems to be that lying under oath about things other than adultery is not actionable. Hyde explained this standard best when excusing lies in the Iran-contra affair. It did not make sense, he said, to "label every untruth and every deception an outrage...in the murkier grayness of the real world, choices must often be made."
