Gene, my call into ENBC's CFO hasn't been returned yet. But he's probably very busy fielding calls from investors since the reverse split was just yesterday. It's my understanding the ticker will revert back from ENBCD to ENBC in 30 days. Yes, this could be the same drawn out nightmare that OE is. THAT'S why I want a tour of the pilot plant. But the CEO's resume says these guys aren't fooling around. I have two locations where the pilot plant might be already in mind. I will let you know when I find out where it's at. I do not intend to get deeply involved in ENBC threads regardless of whether I invest. These "long shots" don't warrant large positions. Buy GE. As long as index funds continue to outperform 98+% of stock funds, investors will poor money into the index funds. This drives up the large caps. It's a perpetual cycle that won't end soon.

CMGI

is regarded by many as one of the best, if not THE best, way to play the internet stocks with reasonable risk. It has been likened to an internet mutual fund because of the diversity of the companies in which they hold positions. News that they too have engaged in a convertible with RGC suggests that maybe thinks aren't so bad. My understanding is that CMGI has no trouble whatsoever raising money! We need one of the convertible experts to go over their agreement and see how similar it is to "ours".

I sold my CMGI way too soon. Yes, I squandered the money on more shares of OE.

That would really be big for the 2S program. Losing Tigershark was really no big deal. But Kawasaki and Polaris are important. Kawasaki's decision not to launch Ficht in '99 is now more interesting....

Gene, ENBC(D): I talked to Paul Brown today, nice guy. He confirmed my suspicion that the pilot plant WAS at Petrolite former production facilities in a suburb of StLouis. Petrolite was recently purchased by somebody (I can't remember who), and put this site up for sale. The pilot plant, which was supposedly a $1.5M investment, was disassembled and moved to Houston. It was reconstructed as a second generation process, and he skimmed over a couple improvements. Keep in mind I'm not knowledgeable about this process, so I didn't ask any questions. Original technology was "single stage with a centrifuge" and is now "3 stage with loopsystem and biocat regeneration" and more sophisticated methods of separation. He said the pilot served it's purpose, but they're much more advanced now. I sensed the biocat regeneration was important, as replacing catalyst is usually expensive. I did ask what he attributed the stock price crash to. He indicated: 1. tax selling (of course), 2. financing, which he expected to be alleviated in the next 30 days, and 3. "deliverables", to be resolved in 6 to 9 months. That last one sounds a little too much like OE for me.... he's sending me an investor packet.

There's another thing I like about SI. Those posting vulgarities are immediately given the boot. No money back. Hey, maybe I'll be moving to ENBC!?!

Emmo: I did ask Peter Hatfull about the low share holdings, and he said it wasn't customary, as it is in the U.S., for board members to have large holdings. I am not qualified to refute this. He conceded it would make everyone feel better if they did though. I want to note that, despite the fact that it was Ms. Salings who asked Peter to call me, our conversation wasn't anything like those I have with Ms. Salings (and she deserves part of the credit). Although I'm sure she preferred that Peter return my call, the length of our conversation did not suggest that she advised him of her feelings. He only indicated he was cautious about what he said to me because I'm among those who post. It was this conversation that initially had me optimistic about a truce, but the next conversation with Ms. Salings was a total disaster from the getgo. As far as the Yamaha 4S goes, you made a good point. But the Yamaha was smaller, and your concerns about compromising the gearbox to save weight are something we can't address until we can see the motors. The only remotely affordable material to save weight is magnesium, and even it's pricey. Titanium is totally out of the question. I suspect Mercury has room for improvement in lightening their cylinder blocks and heads. One item I failed to mention was that the Mercury also had Boating suspecting it had exceptional torque output. This was given away by the prop it was able to swing compared to the others. Torque is also a critical performance measurement. As always, I recommend you find important articles and read them yourself. Yamaha is on an absolute tear in lightening 4S streetbikes beyond anyone's expectations, and I think they've just had their nose to the grindstone. Other than the swept volume, it sounds like the motor is extremely compact. Remember, MB&S said the motor was a nightmare under the bonnet with everything crammed in there. Of course I must remind you that the focus in racing is not only weight, but size. The war in both CART and F1 motors these days is making them small. They want the center of gravity and the cowling as low as possible to improve handling and reduce drag. The surprise in the outboards was how Honda ended up heaviest. That's because they were determined to use Accord parts - tooling already paid for, parts already optimized, Accord has wonderful reputation. As far as the typical buyer not wanting Japanese, that was my thought too! But there are more and more consumers who are strongly "buy American", but then have some bad experiences. Some of them defect (as I defected to Honda). And a lot of them then have a really good experience - and they're gone forever (like me). It's a wierd phenomena. And it's absolutely killing Cadillac right now, because as the population ages, those who think "Cadillac" when you say "luxury", or "quality", or "prestige", is a dwindling group. I meet all sorts of people who gave up arguing with GM and just bought a Lexus or BMW. And it's hard to find anyone less than about fifty years old who associates Cadillac with anything good. I'm always surprised when I see a Japanese outboard on a bass boat being pulled by an American pickup, but I keep seeing them. And Boating says you can't bargain Honda marine dealers down much.... does that sound familiar?

I wanted to mention that someone on Yahoo recently posed a theory similar to a concern I previously mentioned about fitting OE's injectors under the hoods of cars being a problem due their arrangement on the cylinder head. If someone has a conversation with Peter we should inquire about that. This is not something that would have suddenly become an issue. These tight clearances have existed for a very long time. Surely OE would have anticipated this?

I apologize for the length of this post. I just got an Email from an "Air Resources Engineer" at CARB. Will post anything relevant tomorrow, but not much new. Sounds like I've made another good contact though.
