(NASDAQ:RNWK), the recognized leader in streaming media, today named Philip Rosedale as chief technology officer. Rosedale, formerly the vice president of Core Technology, joined RealNetworks in February 1996, and led product development teams from RealAudio(R) 3.0 through RealSystem(TM) G2. "Philip has played a key role in the development of a number of RealNetworks foundation products including both RealVideo and RealSystem G2," said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO, RealNetworks, Inc. During 1996 he built and managed the team that released RealVideo in February 1997. Late in 1997, Rosedale led the creation and release of RealSystem 5.0. In November 1997 he became vice president, Core Technologies, where he played a key role in the creation and release of RealSystem G2, which became available as a final product in November 1998. Prior to joining RealNetworks, Rosedale founded Automated Management Systems, an applications software firm which developed FreeVue, an Internet videoconferencing product. RealNetworks acquired AMS in early 1996 with the goal of creating RealVideo. Rosedale holds a B.S. in Physics from University of California, San Diego.
