I'm a residential customer of BellAtl and just received an unsolicited Bell Atlantic DC mailout and application form for InfospeedDSL. The advertisement specifically mentions WSTL modems as well as Compaq. I can get "Personal Infospeed" for $59.95/month which includes bellatlantic.net access and 640K incoming and 90K outgoing. "Pro Info" is $109.95 for 1.6M in and 90 out. If I want to use my own ISP, I can get the 640K/90K for $39.95/mo.

If I order the service with a 12 month commitment, I "get a Westell DSL modem for just $49." That price includes the $50 rebate. I also get a free ethernet card plus home installation. There's a $99 initial connection fee. Personally, $60/month is a lot to pay for casual use (although that's about my cable bill), but if it were $40 (including the ISP) I might do it.

This appears to be the offer they've had on their webpage, but I thought it notable that they are soliciting with direct mail from residential customers (at least in my neighborhood).
Regards,
Harry
