Silknet Software Names Patrick J.
Scannell Jr. Chief Financial Officer

MANCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 1998--Silknet Software, Inc., today
announced that Patrick J. Scannell Jr. has joined the company as chief financial officer. With over
twenty years of management experience in finance and administration, Scannell will direct Silknet's
overall financial growth as the company broadens its eBusiness product line. He will develop key
relationships with investors and financial advisors and expand their awareness of Silknet's leading role
in the customer relationship management industry.

Since its founding in 1995, Silknet has successfully secured more than $23 million from three rounds of
venture financing. Investors include BancBoston Ventures, CMG@Ventures, Intel Corp.
[Nasdaq:INTC - news], JAFCO America Ventures, Vertex Management and Zero Stage Capital.

Computer Systems and Data General Corporation. Scannell holds an MBA from Babson College and a
Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Boston College.
