If you look at Yahoo Amzn profile: biz.yahoo.com
shares short is 7.4 million as of Nov. 9th, 1998. So:
7.4/17.712 millions*100=41.78% of public shares sold short. That is the main reason for the sudden price jump. If all the people leave AMZN alone, I mean not shorting it. It will not have that kind of upward potential.

Coby, I have that article sitting in front of me. You will recall in my IFC piece this week that I wasn't buying puts on internuts right now because there was too big a crowd there. A 51% short sale ratio, combined with a very thin float, is the sort of thing that causes a stock to zoom up rapidly for no special reason. Meanwhile, folks have given up fighting the cos. I have bought puts on. I want to see the bears bloodied good on internut stocks before I pay the premiums an Amazon is commanding.
