<Any one else care to share their thoughts on the above senario?>

I'm about as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to trying to be analytical not to mention just plain usually wrong, that being said....

Wouldn't ALA stand more to gain than LU? I mean by keeping the WSTL/DSC/BA solution intact. It seems to me that LU already has and is quite happy with the xDSL solutions it has developed and continues to develop. ALA's the one looking to get their foot in the door here aren't they? Also, sure is a LOT of quite from ALA on xDSL lately, no? Sometimes silence speaks volumes. Isn't it more in ALA's interest's to keep WSTL financially sound? How important is WSTL to either LU or ALA?
