My interpretation is that they think that IPR -issues should be separated from the standardsetting.Basically don't use the IPR:s as a weapon to force something on the standardbodies.That's how I understand it But I haven't really read the original release of their statement So who knows what they are after.But what I know is that none of this companies want to degrade the 3:rd generation system by doing it backwardcompatible to a system that they don't have in the first place.You can say what you want on this thread but simple logic says that if you have to limit the scope of a new system by having to do it backwardcompatible then you will not get an optimal system for the operators that don't have IS-95 in the first place.It also sets limits what new ideas they can implement in the 3g specifications./R
