Interesting Bloomberg article. The only positive they missed, at least for MU, is the trend in memory usage in sub-$1000 PCs. Because memory has been so cheap, box makers have loaded up their machines with 32-64 meg on even low end machines. In other words, even if the number of machines sold remained the same, rising dram prices combined with more memory in the most popular low end machines would do good things for MUs bottom line.
Of course, short-term the question is whether MU has discounted this quarters lower loss. I'm hanging on to a few calls on the theory that Xmas rallies and good earnings (lower losses) will push MU into new ground above 55.
