Transformers can be replaced by other technologies -
There is a big effort underway to replace transformers with alternative solid state isolation technologies. For example, a small company in Austin just announced they were selected by COMS for such technology. Lucent must have known this when they sold their assets. Any communications hardware engineer wants to eliminate the front end analog section with solid state components.

Tanks! I'm on a beach in Thailand at the moment. If BELFA hits $50, I may stay another month. At $12 per night for a bungalow, it doesn't take that much :-)

Anybody listening to the COMS conference call? From the release, it looks pretty good. Any news about xDSL deployment would be appreciated. Also, if modem sales are heading out, hopefully that will boost SMSI (woof, woof) again.
