Honda is purchasing it's hybrid batteries from the same manufacturer as they are purchasing their EV batteries from, Panasonic Energy.
Honda may never purchase batteries from GM Ovonic but they may end up purchasing from Sanyo (from which we would recieve a 3% royalty) Sanyo 's recent EV license deal included rights to Ovonic's advanced positive which makes Ovonic NIMH hybrid batteries so powerful. I'm sure that Sanyo is not far off from marketing EV and hybrid batteries.
After all it was only about three days after they signed the license with ECD that they announced the sale of their new bike with NIMH batteries and Yahamas's new bike with Sanyo's NIMH batteries. Also Sanoh who has a long standing business relationship with Honda has recently recieved a license for hybrid batteries in Japan. Sanoh is also finally ready to supply Honda's new bike with their new NIMH batteries.

Thank you (I think). Though I feel the discusions Del has about his EV1 experiences is interesting I think the real financial impact to ecd will come from the hybrids if from anywhere at all. Honda introducing one in mass quantities (vs. the big 3 playing around so that they look like they are doing something) is potentially huge. If ECD's technology is the best and Honda uses it ECD will immediately get to the breakeven point or above. Then GM and others will follow suit a couple years later and the impact will be greater.
