That driver would've been Kay Summersby, I believe. I don't recall any public admission of his affair with her, or even mention of it, until after his death. Same with FDR's indiscretions.

The Kay Summersby incident was in the middle of WWII. I have read a number of books about it. Nobody was ever sure of what the situation was and if in fact he had some kind of sex with her. Even if he did, he was discreet, respected Mami, and resumed his married life after the war. Furthermore, if we send a person overseas for multiple years and be resposible for the lives of millions under great stress, I would cut him some slack. If he wanted to have a very good female friend in the middle of the war, I think that we can make an exception. Far, far different than Bill. But my basic premise was that Eisenhower exhibited considerable character over his life and was not an habitual liar on a daiy basis. His comments about the military industrial complex near the end of his presidency is a good example of how he called things as he saw them.
