Dave -

Message 6937694

Thats the post about ERICY setting up a WCDMA system in England and not in some future tie but starting Jan 1, 1999 ie the week after next.

No waiting for approvals, or regulations, or law suites or standards institutions in Geneva. That's another move in the war. Create facts on the ground. Just put a system up, give provide some jobs in the UK in manufacturing something or other, get the UK Government on side, expand the system, make it a full commerical operation.....

Regards,

L

Dave..

What are you trying to say here?

"Well, as was discussed on this thread, if Qualcomm's patents are, indeed, blocking patents, then Ericsson stands no chance in "working around" Qualcomm's patents. However, I disagree, and you are implicitly stating that Qualcomm's patents are not, in fact, blocking patents.

Next point, it wouldn't take Ericsson years of R&D to develop "work around" solutions. All it would take would be a team of attorneys with some of their top R&D people a few months, if not weeks, to find the holes and file at either the US PTO or EPO."

In the midst of all this uncertainty one thing is perfectly clear IMO. If Q does not possess blocking patents they are sitting ducks. Do Dr Jacobs, Andrew Viterbi and QCOM really seem that stupid to you?...DMG

I am not impicitly stating that at all. I believe that QCOM has a stranglehold on CDMA technology and will prevail by summary judgement in any litigation with Ericsson.
