<<I thought someone pointed out here that it appeared that the product would be an Ampex product, and not Micronet's.>>

Don't think so, Al. Unless I missed that information. Are you referring to that employment ad? That implied the possibility of a new AXC consumer product ( or service). There was a new DCR model introduced last summer. And quad density could be said to be new ...though it has been in the roadmap all along. A brand new product would be surprising and interesting.

The new MicroNet product will be a MicroNet product - not sure if Ampex had any involvement. From what I hear, it will be something very interesting. Bear in mind, that a high-end MicroNet product is still a low-end product compared to the Ampex DST. Except that speed and tranfer rates are probably faster, but with much less capacity than say a DST 712. Combine the two and you'd have a very high performance piece of equipment.

I think Ampex has something planned for use of this new MicroNet product - it seems strange they would abandon the lower-end products and keep emphasizing the higher-end ones. Didn't someone mention a virtual "caching" device that would take some of the load off the Internet? Or perhaps a digital video server for video streaming technology.
