Tim:

Although, day trading gets the blood flowing, I think position trading will keep the mind in tact. Wishing you a wonderful holiday and a prosperous 1999.

Tim im right behind ya man.. I too am going over board with the day trading, and there just reaches a point where its not too healthy. Should be getting a nice break from Watley at the end of the month since im near the 100 mark already in less than 2 weeks..

I really wish the internet party would come to an end so we can get back to the good ole days re:dell, sunw, csco... you simply just cannot ignore the internets when there is such opportunity.. Im now buying 100 shares at a time and even that is making me a ton of money!

As for commission- im starting to put most of my orders thru island.. so far they seem to be the only ones who have filled all my orders in one transaction. MDDS I swear to god, I bought 1000 shares and the commission was multiplied by some god awful number it made me laugh.. Still the commission is wealth worth the service.. I had to laugh when I saw how well AMTD did today- sure! they are having a field day over there...

I loved that post. I'm very happy to see you back. You taught most of us the definition of position trading and generated a very sophisticated following of people.

I prefer position trades. It feels less mechanical. Also the stocks to play are very different. This is why I spent most of my time on this thread after most left. This thread has remained more centered on position trading. The favored stocks for daytrading are different from the daytrading stocks. They are much more difficult to play without plenty of experience. Smiles, playing onsl took skill yesterday. Cool was no easier today. The picks on Joes thread make the very experienced traders happy, and seem to frustrate and anger the less able or capable traders.

I have split my accounts in half for sanity since the rules vary so radically. One half is for position trades. It now holds OSI and probably should hold a couple of other favorites of mine. The other half contains zip. I'm playing to the rules of day trading now.
The rules of trading and the characteristics of your broker dramatically differ between the two styles. Position trades are much more forgiving on brokers than daytrading.
I think its most appropriate to go 100% position trading (a style that does not require babysitting your stock) in early Febuary.
Comments, as always, are enthusiastically welcome.
Smiles,
Glenn

positioned csco and osi....so from now on my picks will NOT be day trades.

Good for you Tim! The Motley Fool is up 174% YTD, with hardly any trading....

Trading less, is my New Year's resolution.
