Sudan: Oil production project progresses satisfactorily, minister says

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) - Minister of Energy and Mining Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz expressed satisfaction over the progress of work at the Sudanese Oil Project. He added that what had been achieved at the project bears testimony to the vast capabilities the country enjoys in the field of oil production. Receiving the visitiong Deputy Director General of the Chinese petroleum company CNPC in his office Tuesday, Al-Jaz hailed the progressing Sino-Sudanese relations as he announced Sudan's readiness to embank on further investment activity with China. The Chinese side, meanwhile, stressed keenness to complete Sudan's Oil Production Project in line with the plans already mapped out between the two countries.

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir has affirmed strength of the deep-rooted relations between Sudan and China and the two countries' keenness on developing them further. This came when President Al-Bashir received at the Republican Palace Tuesday a high-level Chinese investment delegation which represents the public and private petroleum companies in China. President Al-Bashir reaffirmed during the meeting, Sudan's welcome to the Chinese investments in mining and petroleum fields in the country. Energy and Mining Minister Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, following the meeting, stressed in a statement to SUNA commitment of the Chinese companies operating in domain of petroleum in Sudan to the time they fixed for starting exportation of the Sudanese petroleum next year. The minister further stated that the Chinese delegation's ten-day visit aims at assessing the work progress at the various exploration, refinery and export sites.
