Well, in the CPQ vs. DELL direct battle, DELL is going to stay ahead unless CPQ improves the way they market at their site. Right now I am going back and forth between DELL's and CPQ's and even though I own stock in CPQ and not in DELL, I must admit that I'm finding it **much** easier going over at DELL. At CPQ? Unless one hangs-out at computer stores and knows the pros and cons of the various optional components, one is totally lost. Graphic controller options? Speaker options? I want to know the difference other than price between the choices [at the end of this I have the URLs I'm looking at]. I am comparing the Dell Dimension XP5 R400 (Pentium II, 400MHz) with the CPQ Prosignia Desktop 330 (Pentium II, 400MHz). Over at Dell, each area where one can make choices has a _real_ nice area to click if one needs hep deciding. The specs and critical information is given--for the modem, the information on the modems made me aware only one of the two served my needs. At Compaq, there is nothing, just a list of choices with no information to help someone figure out the differences and possible see something (in the description or specs) that makes certain options either out or a must-have. If CPQ is trying to emulate Dell, they sure as heck have not done anything to make purchases user friendly on-line. About the best I can say right now is that one can totally exclude certain things (modem, monitor) from the price unlike on the page I am on over at Dell. I'm going to call someone at Compaq tomorrow and see if a human can explain the options to my satisfaction. Right now, however, I just might end up going with a Dell, **only** because over there, I know what I'm selecting rather than buying blind. Take a look at the two pages and you'll see what I mean: Dell's:commerce.us.dell.com Compaqs:directplus.compaq.com Not happy so far in my PC shopping- Lynn
