Intel has done it before - twice.

Fab 10 - Ireland - brand new 8 inch fab with a BiCMOS 0.6 micron process in 1992/1993.

Fab 14 - Ireland - brand new 8 inch Fab with 0.25 micron process - January, 1998.

Intel has the experience.

Further, Intel has had Fab 6 in Israel since 1984/85 time frame - so they have quite a bit of experience in wafer fab operations outside of the U.S.
