I am not Waldo, but I will answer anyway. If you can get one of those at these prices, jump on it... and forget about Windows 98. It certainly does not deserve the difference. And if you want it absolutely, buy it at Wall-Mart and do the upgrade yourself. You'll still save a bundle.

>>All items from bid.com are brand new with factory warranty just like the ones offered by J&R except the ones from BID.COM come with Windows 95 and the ones from J&R come with Windows 98. Bottom line-Are these prices really that good from BID.COM with the Windows 95 or is Windows 98 that important???<<

I have a Compaq 1210. I know very little about other models...let alone this one. LOL...Some one else can answer this better than I can. My first impulse is to buy the cheap model and borrow a friends 98 software and download it. ;>) Don't tell Gates!

teckstocker, I don't know if you were just comparing prices or are interested in a new laptop...I bought the $999 (US) special--Winbook 233-dual scan, was shipped promptly W/98 ..check it out(click on $999),I love mine, received it this summer..I added 64k more memory($100 aftermarket),a couple of months ago-windows 98 eats memory for lunch<vbg>

PS: if you wait a couple of months, the processor speed will probably be upgraded higher (my guess 266),but the $999 price stays the same..
you can call and ask.
