If it's anything like the 10/22 or 10/22 mag carbine , I'd say it's great gun, if you like 9mm's. Generally, the Ruger carbine's are very reliable, if your going to the show, look for a .44 mag carbine, they stopped making them I think, but it's a much sought after gun. It can be used for hunting deer, unlike the 9mm. I would guess they will make a .45 carbine before to long, the concept is becoming very popular with the action shooting crowd, although the low capacity mag will be a problem. Many people load the .45 and it's readily available as well, so there is definately a market. These calibers are usually only justified out to around 50 yards, so your best off shooting the most lethal large diameter slug. As you can tell I'm not a 9mm fan, although they are inexpensive to shoot. Most guys don't reload them they just buy military hard ball ammo. It's not a bad idea to get guns with the same ammo configuration, actually it's a great idea. I'm not sure if you bought a handgun, but Glock makes a VERY popular 9mm, the trigger takes some getting used to, but for self protection it's great, very simple just the way it should be. The 1911 framed pistols are not nearly as practical because of the complicated safety's, but of the bunch, the Kimber is the best (in .45). Look at the Para Ordinance LIMITED in .40, it's a high cap with lots of bells and whistles. Kimber makes a high cap polymer that is very nice in .45. This list will give you something to paw at the gunshow, as usual this is just my opinion and don't mean shit, nobody ever listens to me anyway....BTW, get a life....and have a nice Christmas.
