Alto de Lipangue Potential Revisted: I continue to revise my estimates of Lipangue's potential: Consider: MDIN has reported that the La Fortuna de Lampa Mine produced ore averaging 59 grams of gold and 104.1 grams of silver per ton over an eight year period commencing in 1946. My map of the area(I can email anyone the map if they don't already have it) shows the old mine to be about 1 mile NE of the hydrothermal breecia pipe (The Breccia Zone is a classical breccia pipe located on the contact between the volcanic tuff country rock and the granodiodte batholith, representing a late stage explosive hydrothermal event carrying silica(quartz) and metals. "An earlier mapping and rock sampling program carried out in 1986 showed the surface rocks over a wide area around the Breccia Zone were anomalous in gold, silver, copper, lead and molybdenum")at about the same elevation on the same Lipangue plataeu. It appears the gold came from several quartz veins. ("There are several quartz veins adjacent to the old workings such as Cerocita Veta, Veta Mantiera and Veta Rica which are reported to have carried good values in gold.") Looking at G. House's report and considering the geology of the area-it is likely that the source of the hydrothermal fluids that fed the gold quartz veins is related to the same event which produced the breecia pipe. (Vein swarms are common in porphyry systems.) The pipe is directly above the hot intrusive body which produced the minerlized hydrothermal fluids-ie the fluids directly above the heat source are by far much hotter and carry more gold minerlization than areas up and horizontal to the heat source.(heat rises!) The quartz veins formed when the hydrothermal fluids from the intrusive body came upon existing cracks/faults etc.(or the intrusive produced cracks itself)-the fluids filled the cracks and eventually cooled and formed quartz veins. The point is the concentration of the gold ore is probably as high or even higher in the pipe than the gold content in the veins due to the much higher temperature found in the breccia pipe itself. The rocks recovery from the pipe show extreme alteration indicated intense heat(higher the heat-more gold.) The 37 meter drill core taken from the breecia pipe bears out my conclusions. So lets make some assumptions: Breccia zone has been found to be 200 X 400 meters across and unlimited depth. Typically, you can found minerlization down to a depth of 1 kilometer or more at porhyry. Let's use 600 meters as the depth of the minerlization. Lets also assume the minerlization is about the same as found in the nearby quartz veins and in the previous core sample. Assume the rock is the density of quartz which is about 2500 kilogram/cubic meter (2.75 tons/cubic meter) So 200 X 400 X 600= 48,000,000 cubic meters of minerlization First lets calculate amount of gold Determine the amount of gold in each cubic meter.. 59 grams gold/ton of rock gives you 162 grams of gold/cubic meter or 162 grams/cubic meter X 48,000,000 cubic meters=works out to 7.8 million kilograms of gold or 274,000,000 million ounces of gold! Doing the same for silver gives you about 483,000,000 million ounces of silver. This is nuts! Need to go back to the drawing board-these numbers are crazy!
