Dear Peter:

> I have never been prouder of the members of Congress (both Republican and Democrat) that had the guts to vote as required by our Constitution.

Well good for you! There are 25% of Americans that are as proud - if not more - for the congress to impeach the president. However 72% are shameful and disgusted with what they have done! And just for your info according to the latest poll just came out this morning by CNN/TIME 74% of Americans strongly support President Clinton with 22% disapproval. By the same numbers 73% of Americans are disgusted with the Republicans and the Republican party.

You ask:
> please define the gray area that makes it acceptable for Liberals to act illegally without losing moral high ground or being subject to punishment.

Well, allow me to suggest reading of the following article and please pay attention to Mr. Henry Hyde's definition of what is acceptable when it comes to lying (or the so called gray area that both you and Mr. Hyde are refering to) !! Apparently, with Republicans, as long as your lies are not about sex, you are ok. But god forbids if you dare to lie about your sex life! Please, go ahead and read the following:

Let's see what the Chairman of the Judiciary Commitee has to say on the subject of lying.

And the rule for Republicans seems to be that lying under oath about things other than adultery is not actionable. Hyde explained this standard best when excusing lies in the Iran-contra affair. It did not make sense, he said, to "label every untruth and every deception an outrage...in the murkier grayness of the real world, choices must often be made."
