Both AVID and TEK were in pretty serious trouble. Neither company is well run, contrary to popular opinion. Both have been working on technology that they cannot seem to get a handle on. So I had my doubts until they came up with the merger idea. Now I am far more bullish. Each can utilize the stronger technology of the other, plus avid can use tek's stronger sales staff to peddle its stock. it's definitely a win-win. will it play out in the 4th quarter? well, the 4th quarter has been a terrible one for the broadcast industry. i would not be surprised if orders were put off. on the other hand, capital budgets were already approved and i;m told avid's symphony is moving fast. so i'm bullish and holding on to my avid and tek positions with high hopes.
