In a Red Herring (http://www.redherring.com) story on Bid.net, Bid.com is mentioned as one of the big players:

<< FIERCE COMPETITION
Is there room for another major auction site? While the auction site market is already crowded with big names including eBay, Onsale, uBid (UBID) and Bid.com (BII.TO), OpenSite has a few advantages. Like eBay, Bid.net will profit from the good fortune of its customers without having to deal with buying, storing, and shipping the products, as companies such as Onsale do. >>

Good to see this exposure in a U.S. zine. Maybe today we're seeing the result of institutional investors paying attention to the huge discrepancy in stock values among these "big names".
