Well, I don't think CheckFree is turning their back on the banks, in fact I believe CheckFree has gone out of their way to get the banks up and running as fast as possible. That being said, it does look like CheckFree is getting its ducks in row, 1999 should be a good year. IMO, CheckFree working with portals no different than Wells Fargo working with Transpoint.
