Ten,

The introduction of hardware geometry engines next year in most leading edge graphics boards, will make the whole KNI vs. 3D Now argument mostly irrelevant for games. Software implementations will not be very competitive regardless of which CPU is being used.

Re: "Seems like the K6-3's advantage over the Pentium II in games is still razor-thin, even with 3D-Now and that monstrous Voodoo2 SLI card."

Looking at how close those numbers are between the PII and K6-3 w/3dnow enabled, it wouldn't really surprise me if the Voodoo 2 SLI card is fill rate limited! I really think the numbers are too close to make any other kind of determination. If the Voodoo 2 SLI still doesn't make for a good test, I can't imagine what would--maybe you'd need to unplug all your SDRAM and test it that way?

Ten, Quake2 timedemo is about the worst program to demonstrate superiority of the K6-3. It is very insensitive to L2 cache speed. For example looking at Anand's results at
206.132.42.114 you'll see these numbers on crusher.dm2 framerates (simpler scenes are fill-rate limited in Anand's single Voodoo2 setup):

Celeron 300 (no L2): 28.6
Celeron 300A (300 MHz L2): 31.4 (10% faster)

K6-2-300 (100 MHz L2): 32.7
K6-3-350 (350 MHz L2): 35.6 (9% faster)
