I have been highly involved in materials planning fro a great many years, and sent out a letter to the George Washington University Y2k project a short while back speaking to the problem of J.I.T. in relation to this problem. Nice to see when someone listens, but my concerns are just as great with the (somewhat limited) use of J.I.T. in the wholesale / retail world.
No one in this land carries the inventory of anything(even food or candles) that was carried only 10 years ago. If inventory taxes were eliminated on critical items through 6-2001 or all companies were even given an incentive to hold extra critical inventory any problem could become more manageable.
