JohnD, I have to disagree.
It is relatively cheap. The growth potential on the internet is amazing. Those stocks would not go up for no reason at. People are realizing the potential but are not being too selective.
The company that makes the browser (I expect the Netscape browser to fade away at some point) has a good hold on the internet and potential from future e commerce. This is in addition to their other businesses - which are dominant.
I think management will be positive if the rest of the techs in general are positive about the future. They don't want to stand out in crowd of negative forecasts. We have already heard from Intel, Oracle, Dell -- all upbeat. I think IBM will probably be OK as well.
They will have plenty of time to find out what other techs are announcing and forecasting by the time they release.
IMHO--We will see a stock split at earnings release if above scenario unfolds, which I expect.
If not at earnings, within a couple of weeks, just like last Feb 1998. I think they stayed away from the split at the Jan earnings because of the warnings from the other companies. Like I said they did not want to stick out like a "sore" thumb. This time they will fit in just like the last earnings release (read the October release and notice what they said)
