Some argue about switches and the abilities to override them manually. But certainly those 18 wheelers will continue to roll. The train companies say that the system can be operated manually, but what do they know -- everyone is part of a Y2K conspiracy, right? <<And the people have no way to pay?>> They can use their checks, credit cards, debit cards or cash just as they do now. Why can't they?? You should know that my firm helps hundreds of banks deal with Y2K, so I am prepared to bring maximum documentation, first-hand experience, and fact to this discussion. Or you can cite some North links or discuss Yourdan's "Ten Years without Banks" chapter (an utter joke). <<No ... no financial transactions, little or no communications, the only food to be had will be from backyard farms (IMO).>> Why won't there be any financial transactions? You know that every bank is executing a Y2K program and that the supervisory agencies require proof of validation and complete contingency plans, even for lack of power and telecommunications, correct?
