Thanks for the tips. With two woodstoves and a nice woodlot I've become somewhat of a student of woodburning. I wasn't expected anything too complicated but some of the reading I've done talked about different splits (or rounds) of wood used for different fire purposes (hot, slow burn, ...). Seems it depends on the surface area of the wood; basically, more surface cut, as in a quarter split, has different burn/heat characteristics than, say, a half split; whereas a short round ... . Hmmm...almost does sound like rocket science! ; )
