****OT**** I telephoned CPQ this afternoon to talk to someone about the various options available for the Prosignia I am looking at. The number I called was 1-800-GO-COMPAQ. I started the call by telling the woman I had a suggestion for their web page that lists the 800 number. She expressed interest so I suggested numbers be put beneath the letters since the 'Q' causes some confusion--older phones do not have the letter 'q' on them and people who check stock prices using the phone are accustomed to using '1' for 'q.' When I was done the woman sighed and said she could not even begin to tell me how many other people have called with an identical comment. She said she has passed the suggestion along, numerous times. As she put it [to paraphrase], "No one listens to me here, I'm too low on the totem pole. People [higher up] laugh when this subject comes up." She pointed out something that had not even dawned on me--dialing the 'Q' is not necessary, would be the eighth number. Still, I can't tell you how long I delayed trying to figure out if I should dial '1' or '7 [PQRS].' Re the main purpose of my call, I got transferred three times until I ended up with a nice fellow, Jake, who was in the division to answer technical questions for buyers. After a short time Jake told me my questions were too technical for him to answer, that he was just learning. He gave me another number but I have not had time to call yet. No complaints about the way Jake handled my call in the least. He did his best to answer my questions and when he ran into brick walls, admitted not knowing then found out who could answer them. Lynn
