CPQ is doing both direct and through distributors -- the idea that direct is OK, while distributors are hurting is bull -- especially after MUEI's recent report and GTW saying they had to have a good December to make their numbers. Do you know how many computers are sold via direct vs. distributors? techstocks.com Price drops and tepid growth in unit sales appear to have hit both distributors and direct sales in the middle of what is traditionally the strongest season of the year. Double digit price drops are a serious matter now that the action has moved substantially to the low end. DELL may be the last remaining star in the biz ... A few more data points and we'll know how bad it really is, but it doesn't look good so far ...
