The stock has done GREAT amist all of these lawsuits. Imagine what the stock WILL do in 1999 when the DOJ (department of jugheads) drops the case, based on the AOL/Netscape merger, Y2K joke, the predicted 2-1 stock split, and the better than expected earnings for 1Q 1999? Just my opinion, but Microsoft should remain a core holding in most portfolios in 1999. Yes, I also own AOL, CSCO, and PFE, but Microsoft can always be dependable for appreciation, year after year. Never underestimate the power of Bill Gates. He's the richest man in the world for a very good reason. They all want to emmulate his company. He's the coca-cola of high tech, and the others are all nothing but Pepsi's. Hang on to your Microsoft shares and thank me in the year 2000! My opinion only. Happy holidays!

Johnd:

I, also, practically have all my eggs in the fabulous MSFT basket. Consider those eggs of yours golden as long as you keep them with MSFT. I have always felt that in order to get rich you have to concentrate your bets, and then diversify to protect your newfound wealth. MSFT has had a steller past and the inertia of its excellent management promises a bright future. Rest assured, you made to right choice. You don't have to take my word for it, just look at its chart.

As far as the lawsuits are concerned, yes, as an investor in the company you should monitor their potential outcomes. But, if I could choose one company that I felt would have the best chance at winning these suits, it would be MSFT. For example, what more motivation could the richest man in the USA (world?) ask for than having the opportunity to add "defeated the DOJ" to his legacy? Sure, he will still respond with "thirst for innovation" and "'cause I love it" to those that ask what keeps him ticking, but, he also wants something to brag about when he goes golfing with his billionaire buddies. And what's more rewarding (other than high $$$) than being able to say that you beat the US government?

This is my first post to SI. I just want to let everyone know that I appreciate everyone's critical thinking about this company, you really cover the bases about MSFT inside and out. Kudos.
